I'm hoping that you will join me in this intense month.. this month of ALL IN! You can do it, too. You have some goal that you've been putting off - - maybe this is the month to commit to yourself, as I am committing to myself, and say "Yes! I can do this! I am worth this effort! I will succeed!" And mean it. And do it.
Let me know if you are 'in'. You can set your own plan but to be in the challenge for August you need to do three things: 1) commit to 5x week of some sort of exercise that will get your heart rate pumping for at least 30 minutes 2) journal (your food and your emotions, your day food plan.. something) and 3) check in here through the Comments or on Facebook or Twitter with the hash tag of #hlgAugAllIn.Labels: August All In , Challenge , dream believe achieve , Fisique , healthy goals , Ireland , Journal , Weight Loss
I have never been to Fitbloggin but have wanted to go badly for the last two years. This year, I am happy to say, the wait is over! And not only am I going but I am fortunate enough to have been chosen as one of the Ignite keynote speakers! :) I'll be there in two months speaking on Staying POSITIVE on your journey wherever you are today.
In preparing my presentation (a Ignite Spark presentation... quick and 30 slides for predetermined amount of time... well, whatever equals 5 minutes total.. lol). I have wanted to ask others what for them is their worst stumbling block to losing weight, keeping the weight off, or execising (at all or regularly)? What do you consider as your biggest and/or best reason you can't do some of the things you'd like to do? Could you let me know what they are - from big to little ones - in the comments? Thank you!Labels: believe in yourself , dream believe achieve , Fitbloggin , ignite fitness , Weight Loss

"Compulsive eating is a way we leave ourselves when life gets hard. Its a way we distance ourselves from the way things are when they are not how we want them to be." "It* is about the capacity to stay in the present moment.:" *Ending the obsession with food.

Last night I recalled a playground song from when I was a kid in upstate New York. The person in the middle of the skipping circle had to jump around and/or dance wildly as everyone sang:

I have so much to say this evening but know I don't have the time to blog EVERYTHING I want to tell you, so - for this evening - let me break the barrier of having been away and the extreme guilt of that and ask for you all to forgive my absence. The last month to six weeks has been extremely hard for me on many personal levels and I have - I believe - finally, this past weekend, found my footing again, reclaimed my balance and am ready to forgive my own failings, accept I don't always make the best choices, and move on. More on this later this week - possibly tomorrow night.

I have to say that yesterday was the first time in my life I didn't feel like celebrating Saint Patrick's Day. I'd lost a colleague and beautiful, young friend to bile duct cancer this past week. We all thought - since she'd fought so valiantly 18 months ago and seemed to kick cancer's butt - that when she went into the hospital in late January that she would be victorious again. This time it wasn't to be the case and she died on Wednesday morning. I'll miss her sparkling smile and delight in life. Her twitter profile ends with "living life to the fullest fo sho!" She was engaged last summer to her wonderful fiance and seeing him wracked with pain and grief yesterday at the services was almost too much to bear. I have been a little mad at the universe to say the least.
This morning I woke up after a night of tossing and turning and pretty awful dreams deciding to do what I can to live my own life to the fullest "fo sho"! I've been saying I was going to explore my new community a little more and decided that today would be another day for that... getting up to go to the local "diner" on my own. I don't like to go to places on my own oh-solo-mio but in I waltzed and asked for the final seat on the stools. The place was packed (a good sign) and people were waiting outside.
And then I walked down the little plaza sidewalk and had my nails done for the first time since moving in. Good heavens that was so needed! Labels: Back to Basics , dream believe achieve , YMCA
