Gift of Fitness Challenge Check-in: Week #2

Lots of activity on Twitter with #hlgFitGift tweets and it is wonderful to see everyone supporting one another through the good and the difficult!  Thank you for checking in here on the blog, too... let's keep the momentum going and keep commenting below because not everyone is on Twitter and/or Facebook... some of our friends just check in through the blog so let's encourage one another here, too! (And remember there is a GREAT Conair Weight Watchers scale for one person up for grabs... if you're checking in often, you are in the running!)

If you didn't have a great week last week, don't you dare give up!  We've got a long challenge ahead and giving up is not an option.  You don't give up on your family, your kids, your friends in need, do you?  I *know* you don't... then you shouldn't be giving up on your own goals of getting healthy and fit.  I *know* it feels overwhelming sometimes and that pint of Ben & Jerry's is much more familiar than 30 minutes on the treadmill, but guess what?  You signed up for this challenge because you know you need to kick it up a notch (or twenty notches!) and begin to make small steps to feel better about who you are and where you're going.  You *can* do this! :)

I want to live a longer, healthier life.  I want the same for you and this Gift of Fitness and Health Challenge is easy-peasy if you keep a positive outlook and say to yourself that you're worth it and NOTHING is going to stop you.  Not even yourself.  This second week is often a time when you can almost see the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.  The devil whispers "You've done so well, you can reward yourself with pizza and wings!".  The angel whispers, "You've done so well, let's keep it up and make this a habit, you'll feel soooo great about yourself!".  You're the only one who can make that choice of who to listen to! ; )

You don't need to be perfect.  No one is!  So this can be our motto of the week (along with "Make Results, Not Excuses")...
Progress Not Perfection

High five to you for committing to yourself!

Dream. Believe. (Work hard!) Achieve!

I'll start off for this week! I am down 3.2 lbs from last Monday. Starting water Zumba and water Aerobics classes this week, very exciting, as well as the everydayhealth.com 8 week fitness routine. :)

Wish you could see the big grin on my face, Lisa! Soooo darn happy for you! Great loss and I'm guessing you must feel wonderful about your hard work paying off on the scale! ;)

I am down a pound today from last week. I am also wearing a shirt my cousin gave me that had been too small all summer. This week my goal is to do some strength training and try some yoga. I need to mix it up a bit. I am striving to be able to work with a personal trainer again. Worked with one for 3 months last year and I had great results. Back on track and it helps to log my food on myfitnesspal.

I lost 1.6 pounds this week while in Chicago with all of my bandster babes!

How amazing is that! I am hitting it hard this week, swimming 50 minutes a day! And doing strength training at least 2 days!

I'm down 1 lb from last week. Worked on food last week, this week I'm adding in the exercise. Going to start the 30 Day Shred again and try to walk at least 30 minutes a night.

Beautiful autumn day here in the rain-soaked Northeast!! Went for a walk around our lake, then picked up a Taco Bell Al Fresco Bean Burrito(350cals) for lunch. Comfort food at its finest.
PMS has ended, so hubby will live another day. ;o)

Just checking in today I swam last night for 45 minutes and I am meeting my trainer tonight for a strength routine to do twice a week. I am excited and can feel the difference in my mind in the past couple of weeks.

I am 54 pound down and I am very determined!

Ok here is my check in ... I am down 4.2 lbs since we started. The past 2 days have been awful drama filled days for me. During the last 2 weeks I managed to slip on the weekends the first weekend being the worst last weekend not being as bad. This weekend I am going to plan well and make sure I have all the meals that I need with me as I m working 12 hour days both days. That being said the last 2 days it would have been reallt easy for me to slip into old habits and just stop and grab dinner on the way home from work. I really thought about all the work I have put into this week and decided to go home and make a healthy dinner instead. Last night I had comfort food though after a really bad day but it was from Trader Joe's and it was reduced guilt stuff- mac and cheese and fish sticks but I managed to stay with in my calories for the day and also had fresh green beans. My jeans are much looser and overall I guess I am happy with the progress so far. Today my new bodybugg is arriving. So hopefully that will help me stay on track. I log all my meals in my fitness pal and I log everything into my fitbook. So far so good I guess. :/

Hi friends, I'm down 4lbs total in two weeks! I'LL TAKE IT! :) Really thankful that you've all joined the challenge and are supporting me and one another on this journey. Remember it isn't about perfection, just progresss. (Melanie, I think you're doing GREAT! Not stopping & cooking at home after work = huge WIN!!) Keep checking in because on Tuesday I'll be scanning through to see who has been doing so both here and on Twitter and you'll be in the drawing for the beautiful Conair Weight Watchers scale! :)

One more thing: I'm away all weekend for my Mom's 85th birthday party. I'm the hostesss/planner/do-everything person so I am SOOOOO busy. I won't be checking in 'til Tuesday evening after I get my fam back to the airport and come up for air! :) Have a great Columbus Day weekend to my US friends! :)

Weekends are the WORST, aren't they?! It's not my normal 'breakfast-work-snack-work-lunch-work-snack-work-go home" schedule.
It's FINALLY a weekend without rain here in New Jersey!!! Went for a 3 mile walk around the lake(paved pedestrian/bike route). It had been flooded for so long, it's nice to have it back.

make results... not excuses... ok I hear you... I just got back from doing a 3 mile walk with the dog but now I am going to go to the gym for a swim. I have not swam in almost a year. Back then I was swimming for an hour and doing a mile. Today I am aiming for 15 minutes and not dying. Wish me Luck. :/

ff12a October 14, 2011 at 5:08 PM

way to go Paula. If you want to eat pie, do it just don't eat the bottom crust and you can save about 150 calories :)

OMG! I can't remember the last time I updated everyone. I will keep it short and sweet. November and December full of holiday fun and goodies. I kept up with my work out regime through it all and a 5K. I only lost half of my goal. Im still moving right along in January. Signed up for another 5k and bootcamp this month. My theme for the next 12 weeks is NO Excuses!(I got the theme from my favorite show Biggest Loser)Thanks HealthyLoserGal for this challenge and your support. You keep me on track! Chele
